Like other parts of the Hawaiian Islands, Kauai is also attracting the investors to come and build hotels, provide more services to the large number of visitors coming to Kauai. By doing this, they are looking to generate more money and revenue out of it. But still, there is a need of huge development to be made here. That’s the reason why the visitors coming to Kauai do not get much opportunity to enjoy at night. On the contrary, the lack of investment makes it easier for the Kauai visitors to enjoy activities like exploring the wild beauty of verdant jungle, white sand beaches, visiting Canyons and Coastlines in a cheaper way.

In Kauai, Birding at the Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, located at a distance of one mile north of Kilauea is very cheap and costs only 3$, which is just the entry fees. Make sure you see the Laysan albatross, nene, and the red footed boobies. In the same package, you can have the grand view of pacific if you hike the 568 feet high summit of Crater Hill. If you are here between December and April, you may also have a chance to watch the humpback whales that migrate to Alaska. Make sure you bring your camera to catch those moments of whales moving along the ocean waves.

Talking of beach picnic in Kauai, the Polihale State Park which hugs Kauai’s western shore is a place which has not much visitors but still, an excellent place for a picnic dinner on the sand. High surf and rip currents in winters make it dangerous for swimming at the beach but the small, sandy bottomed Queen’s Pond is always safe for swimming. After watching the sunset from the beach, you should not stay here and return back because there is not much twilight here and not very good lighting arrangements on road.

When discussing about hiking in Kauai, Kalalau trail is the most famous for its panoramic views of Na Pali Coast. Exploring the Na Pali Coast of Kauai by hiking is the cheapest way because; other two options, Helicopter and catamaran are very expensive for exploring the Na Pali Coast. Hiking the Kalalau trail is requires healthy efforts. It is so tough to hike the Kalalau trail that most of the people cover just initial 2 miles of the trail till the Hanakapiai Beach and never continue from there. Once at the Kalalau trail, you must visit the 300 feet high Hanakapiai Falls which lie 2 miles ahead of the Hanakapiai Beach.

Another great activity is to visit the Kokee state park for the Kalalau Lookout. Moving up the road from the Waimea canyon will bring you to the Kokee state park. All you have to pay is the donation of few bucks for the Kokee Natural History Museum where you can have a very good knowledge about the forest that lies just behind the museum and official park trail information. Then, to have the breathtaking view of Waimea Canyon and Kokee you will move a couple of miles above the Kokee Lodge for the Kalalau Lookout. The view is so dramatic that you hardly take you eyes of the view. The place can get crowded, so always plan your time for travel before entering here.
