Italy is the largest peninsula in the Mediterranean, with the Tyrrhenian Sea to the West and the Adriatic to the East. It has the absolute perfect summer climate, with full sunshine during the summer. The weather is only cooling down during the winter time, and then it gets more often windy, cloudy and also a bit unfriendly. And because Italy is living mainly from its summer tourism, many Hotels, Restaurants and Shopping Malls are getting pretty much minimized in their operation, as soon the summer time is over. Many citizen of Italy are then enjoying mainly living from the money they made during the summer season. This is why the Italians earned the reputation of taking living the easy way with lots of amore during the summer, and no real work as soon as everything starts closing down.
What is happening during the summer?
The climate is providing a perfect weather for sunbathing, swimming and playing on the Beach. It is somehow similar to Florida. The sun can get very intense from 11.00am 5.00pm. A big bottle of suntan oil is becoming here most valuable. And as soon the big school holidays are starting up in Europe mentioning here Germany as number one lots of families come to this country enjoying the full sun, sand and water. The Italians are pretty easy people, and because of always trying to find new ways to not having to work that much, they fit perfectly to the atmosphere of all the vacationers around them. Everywhere on the Beach you see amore guys , and you may smell suntan oil and realize a lot of sun glasses blinking under the colorful umbrellas.
It is definitely very different in atmosphere compared to Florida or the Caribbean. It is actually utterly worth it, getting there for an outstanding atmosphere experience on a beautiful summer vacation. I cannot not tell right now, which side of the peninsula has a better surf, but you can find it everywhere. And there are definitely places, where you can even get into some troubles swimming. Though this is not as often happening.
Attractive places for vacationers are Lido de Jesolo, which is located pretty close to Venice and also Cattolica, what is a nice vacation city with great people, where night shopping with lots of music puring out from many street cafes is giving you a certain touch of an Italian night romance for your late beach street promenade. But actually all the shops and attractions are open each night in every city until very late, because during the day everybody is on the beach and nobody is bothering buying something anyway.
The main cities of big interest are Rome, Florence, Venice and Pompeii. Rome and Venice have their own Beaches, but together with Ravenna, Assisi and Lucca you have right there the main classic antique city names in front of you. Capri and Napoli are also to mention, because of their enhanced and superb summer vacation.
