Holidays to Bermuda are something that should be experienced by the whole family and luckily the stunning islands of Bermuda have enough attractions to keep everyone entertained. From swimming with dolphins to exploring crystal strewn caves, these are the top three family attractions in Bermuda:

Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo

The Bermuda Aquarium, Museum and Zoo are all housed together in one large complex. However, the aquarium seems to take up the majority of the floor space and it is easily agreed that this building is the highlight of the trio. Visitors should start their aquarium experience by collecting a soundstick at the entrance which provides visitors with commentaries of the underwater life as they come across it in the centre. Although the building houses hundreds of native fish, the native rock provides the focal point of the aquarium. This display houses one of the largest living pieces of coral in the world and children can stick their heads through a giant Perspex bubble in order to experience the sensation of diving in a cave.

The museum explores both the natural history of Bermuda, looking at the formation of the island and its first native visitors, and the native flora and fauna of the area. Visitors that want to experience firsthand the wildlife that has been introduced to the area should head across to the zoo. Although the zoo isn’t especially large it does have some interesting exhibits which are bound to enthral your children on their holidays to Bermuda. Most of the wildlife comes from either Australasia or Bermuda, and guests can expect to see giant fruit bats and rare blue iguanas.

Bell Diving

Even non swimmers can experience bell diving. So if you want to experience the underwater life of Bermuda, but don’t fancy leaving your children unattended then why not book a family bell diving excursion on your holidays to Bermuda. Children from eight years old upwards will simply need an underwater helmet and a little handholding. After a brief lecture aboard the ship, the whole family can place on the bell helmets and come face to face with the underwater life of Bermuda. Tour groups always link hands and walk together so there is no chance of your child wandering off and getting lost in the corals. The tour lasts around two hours and during this time children will have the rare opportunity to handfeed hogfish and angelfish.

Crystal Caves

The Crystal Caves are one of Bermuda’s most spectacular natural wonders and coupled with the nearby Fantasy Caves, they make a family day out. Crystal stalactites drip down from the ceiling, framing a clear blue lake that is believed to be over 55 feet deep. The Fantasy Caves opened in 2001 and have been illuminated to give visitors a wonderful, ethereal experience. One of the first people to experience the wonderment of the Crystal Caves was the American author, Mark Twain who described the stalactites as huge white soda straws and the place as simply mind boggling. The caves are a must visit and should definitely be experienced on your holidays to Bermuda.
