The best thing about Cape Town’s nightlife is that most of it is happening right outside the Cape Town hotels. With a few major nightlife areas in the city, each with their own buzzing atmosphere, you can experience something new every night when on your Cape Town holiday. And there certainly is something to suit all tastes.

Begin Your Night with Sundowners by the Sea

One of the best ways to enjoy the sunset is to sip a sundowner by the sea when on a tailor made holiday in Cape Town. You have two options, each with their own unique attributes. Kalk Bay is a trendy seaside village in False Bay, where hippies wander barefoot through the streets and surfers walk alongside them in their board shorts. It’s very relaxed and has beautiful views of the sea, a perfect area to visit when on a Cape Town holiday.

One of the most popular bars is the Brass Bell. The sea literally licks the walls, and once in a while, if the water is rough, you might just get a salty shower while you’re enjoying your drink! But in summer it’s welcome and refreshing, and being so close to the sea is fantastic. You can spend the early evening sitting on the restaurant’s wall, as the sea laps the rocks below you. It’s the perfect way to wind down after an exciting day on a Cape Town holiday, and it doesn’t get chilly until the sun sets behind the mountain.

The other option for evening sundowners on a Cape Town holiday is the picture perfect Atlantic Seaboard, where Cape Town’s next top models sip cocktails in trendy bars opposite Camps Bay beach and promenade. The sun sets over the ocean on this side of the city, creating one of the most beautiful sunsets you’ll ever see. It’s slightly more upmarket than Kalk Bay, and you’re unlikely to find a barefoot hippy sipping a cocktail beside you, but it’s got a definite seaside, relaxed atmosphere, with beautiful views of the beach and the Atlantic Ocean, situated nearby many of the best Cape Town hotels.

Dinner in the City

If you want to grab a bite to eat between sundowners and your night out on the town, you can pick from a number of restaurants in the city centre and nearby areas. From fine dining to restaurants serving traditional African cuisine, you have a range of restaurants to choose from when on a tailor made holiday in Cape Town.

You could enjoy traditional African cuisine in Mama Africa, where you can join in with the African drumming when you’re not feasting on the delicious food. Or you could go to Madame Zingara’s, where you can enjoy a steak with chocolate sauce in trendy private lounges. And after dinner, with many of the Cape Town hotels so close by, you could go home to change before hitting the city’s bars and clubs.

Trendy Bars and Fashionable Nightclubs

Depending on the sort of evening you’re after on your Cape Town holiday, a range of bars and nightclubs await you. The trendy area of Observatory, just outside the city centre, has a number of quaint bars with a chilled out atmosphere. A Touch of Madness is a good place to start, situated in an old Victorian house with a number of different rooms with lounge furniture where you can relax and enjoy the candlelit atmosphere. A vibrant bar is situated in one of the rooms, where you can order from the barman, or you can enjoy table service as you relax in a big armchair.

If you’re looking for a more lively scene, Long Street in the city centre is sure to be a good night out, and it’s in the heart of the city, so returning to your Cape Town hotel should be easy. Enjoy the alternative atmosphere of the Waiting Room, live music at Zula Bar, or a night of dancing at FTV Fashion Bar. Whatever your choice, Long Street will provide a great night out on a Cape Town holiday.
