Australian visas are not among the easiest to obtain in the world. The complex requirements when making applications and the qualifications one has to meet are never an easy task to deal with.
There are various limitations and numerous restrictions that come with a successful visa application, ranging from the amount of time one can be in the country to activities that one can engage in. All these result from policies put in place by the government to ensure there is control in the immigration department.
To add into these numerous hurdles, a number of visas are available for persons wishing to travel to Australia. Among the many restrictions is that of time of stay. This restriction also applies to a number of other visas in different countries. A tourist travel visa usually allows an applicant to stay in the country for a period of three months.
Validity of this visa is 12 months from the date of issue, a period beyond which an applicant has to make another application in order for his or her visa to be valid. For one to get this visa, he or she must have a passport among other things. The applicant is also supposed to make the application from outside Australia.
Some visas may allow their holders to work while others may not. For one to work, he or she must have a working holiday or Australian visa for students, with permission to work. However, there are also restrictions for persons allowed to work. The first one being the number of hours per a week that you can work limited to 20. One is also not allowed to be employed in one place for more than three months.
There are also age restrictions in some visa application. For one to get a working holiday visa, he or she must be within an age limit of 18 31 years. People outside this age limit have to apply for a different type of visa in order to be given entry permission.
People wanting to study can take a student visa. This visa has numerous requirements to be met among them, a letter confirming that you have been admitted to the institute which you are going to attend. The student must also purchase oversees students health insurance to cover his or her medical expenses while in the country.
You are expected to have a return ticket to your home country and of course a passport. Other visa holders wishing to study while holding a different type of visa can only are allowed if the course they enroll in takes a maximum of three months.
Visa Australia takes different lengths of time to process. The Electronic Travel Authority makes it faster to apply for visas while others take from 48 hours upwards, depending on the season and number of applicants. One is strongly advised to ensure that he or she has successfully obtained a visa before making any travel arrangements.
