Noida is considered the infrastructure capital of its district. It has numerous major software companies and is by far the hottest spot of infrastructure builders.

NOIDA stands for New Okhala Industrial Development Area under the Industrial Area Development Act of UP. This area is considered first class but was reversed in 2004 when the area was made into a separate district once again. There were some controversies about political favors because of the land deals very low prices. Now, this very precious city is a district known as Gautam Budh Nagar.

This district has administrative headquarters at a nearby town, SarajPur. Moreover, the District Magistrate or DM, the highest form of government official, stays in the city of Noida. This city falls under the legislative assembly seat called Vidhan Sabha between Noida and Dadri. Noida also falls under the Lok Sabha Parliamentary seat.

The city of Noida lies on the northern part of India, near New Delhi. Noida is bordered in the west and south by the Yamuna River. It is bordered on the north and northern west by the city of New Delhi. Moreover, it is bordered along the northern east part by Ghaziadabad and New Delhi. Lastly, it is bordered by the Hindon River on the northern east, south and east portion. The city is under the catchments area of the river Yamuna. It is based on an old river cradle.

The soil on the city is mainly loamy and rich, making it perfect for growing other crops like grains, wheat, vegetables, other cash crops and sugarcanes. Due to urbanization, the main crops in Noida are now fruits and vegetables. The city is surrounded by dried deciduous trees such as the Sal, Teak and Sheeshan.

Landmarks in Noida

One of the most popular landmarks in Noida is the War Memorial. This place is situated inside a Golf Course built to commemorate the Battle of Patparguni in the year 1803. This is for New Delhis full control.

The city of Noida was very popular in the news during its war with Pakistan called Kargil for the heroism of a local resident named Lt. Vijayant Thapar. The city was formerly the home of Army Personnel. It is also considered as Asia’s largest colony for retired or serving defense personnel. Sectors 28, 29 and 37, also called Arun Vihar as well as Sectors 21 and 25 called Jalvayu Vihar, are the key focus areas for the defense personnel. The said areas were constructed by the AFNHB and AWHO.

There is a Shaheed Smarak in Noida situated in the 37th Sector. Most of all the major software companies are based in this city. Examples of major companies include CSC, Infogain, HLC and the Hierank Business School.

Infrastructures and Sports Events in Noida

In terms of sports, Noida had a so called half Marathon in 2005 which did not meet the city’s expectations. The international maiden exposure also did not become the talk of the town during the Queen Baton Relay in the Commonwealth Games. Noida is the home of a stadium upgraded to meet the international standards for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in 2010. This is since some of the games are played in Noida.

This city was put on track for the Delhi Metro. The city will be connected to the Palace Station of Connaught via the link of Barakhambha Road Estate to Akshardham Complex. A portion of the said link opened on November 11, 2006. It is said that the Greater Noida part is now emerging as a hot spot for building infrastructures.
